The Academy Awards, the Oscars, a longtime tradition in Hollywood is almost upon us. My only recollection of anything remotely to do with the Oscars is the voice-over on Bugs Bunny cartoons, ‘and now the Oscar Award Winning Rabbit, Bugs Bunny’.
People do, however, take these shenanigens seriously. None more so than the Razzies. The Razzies began as the Golden Raspberry Awards, a pisstake on all that is glam, glitz and glaringly awful about the Academy Awards. Now in their 30th year, the Razzies command almost as much attention as the back slapping event itself.
This year is no exception, and true to form they managed to inveigle gorgeous and funny Sandra Bullock to accept the award for worst actress. Appearing with good grace, and a darn sight more humility than most Hollywood actresses can garner on the big night, she raced in to collect her miniscule award before returning to a meeting with a media mogul.
In a twist that has farce falicitating fact, she is also nominated for Best Actress in the Bugs Bunny Awards. Yet I don’t reckon she gives a rip. After all, she’s already won the big one.

When I read that Sandra B had turned up to get her Razzie, and that she gave out signed copies of the movie she won for, asking that they recipients watch it, and make sure it WAS that bad, I had a chuckle. Good on her for having a sense of humour, it’s something that is missing in so many people in modern society.

Good on her. She is a rarity. An actress with the ability to laugh at herself, and the stupid system that is Hollywood. Loved her in Speed. She can drive my local bus anytime………

yeah, I’d leave the Merc at home and happily wait at the bus stop if she was driving..

She was amazing in the blind side – totally deserved I think. It’s taken me a while to like old Sandy – I don’t know if its the movies she has been in or not, but I have never been a big fan. After watching The Blind Side I reassessed and rather than just see her as a pretty face, I saw quality acting, I also got used to her voice (it used to grate on me) and now, would gladly watch any movie she is in.
I love the fact that she is good-humoured enough to accept a razzie, i am sure she had some ‘minders’ that would have tried to talk her out of it. it just makes me like her more though.

She was in a movie a few years back called “28 days”. I thought she was quite brilliant in it. I’ve liked her for ages..
