Between a Rock and a Hard Place

I don’t recommend Tony Abbott for PM, neither do I dismiss him. Stranger things have happened. Howard came back from the dead, and despite the naysayers, managed to deliver a worthy, though not necessarily popular, political agenda for ten years. While Rudd was a breath of fresh air in the early days of his tenure, he has now shown himself to be increasingly inept in the achievement stakes, although he is particularly adept at spending money saved by a previous government on frivolous stimulous packages.

It has been said that Labour wins when the Liberals have amassed enough money for them to play with. This worked quite well, in retrospect, with the Whitlam administration. Gogh, having little or no experience at dealing out the dosh, gave willy-nilly. The result was free universities for all, a national health care scheme called Medibank, and a myriad of other unheard of social reforms. Whitlam may not have done his sums, but he had his heart in the right place.

On the other hand, we now have a teenager at the helm who is looking shiny, but by all accounts is so far coming up lacklustre.

A result other than Sorry Day would be welcome.

I have to say, I was never a fan of Rudd, in fact, call me a liberal capitalist, but I was living a comfortable happy and healthy life due largely to Howard. While I know that there were many that didn’t achieve this lifestyle, I think there are just as many under the labor govt who could say the same. I don’t like Tony Abbott, Actually think he is a bit of a prick. What I do like is that he seems honest, something that normally doesn’t ever go with being a politician. I like that he says what he thinks, and how he sees things. I often disagree with him, but I think I would prefer a leader that I could respect for being honest and upfront about situations, rather than a leader who I have no faith in, and disbelieve on almost everything he says.

I’ll take an honest prick over a smarmy tool for PM any day of the week.
